Your school receives counseling services through the Delaware County Intermediate Unit under Act 89 funding. School counselors provide a wide-range of services based on the needs of the school.
wHat do cOUNSELORs do? * Provide individual, small group, and classroom lessons based on the needs of the students
*Consult with teachers and faculty regarding individual students and classroom concerns
* Provide education and support to parents and family members
* Participate in school-based team meetings to assist with student success
* When needed, the counselor may consult with other DCIU specialists (reading, speech, school psychologist, etc.)
* Facilitate referrals and collaborate with outside support services in the community

*Develop positive attitudes among students towards self, family, and community
*Support students by teaching skills for achieving success
*Help students to understand and appreciate their unique qualities and to grow personally and socially
*Cope with family changes, grief, stress, and personal issues

*Assist parents and teachers in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment
*Advise parents on strategies for school support
